Transfiguración (Monumento III)
Museum of the Arts University of Guadalajara (MUSA), Guadalajara, Mexico.
Curated by Marisa Caichiolo

This work presents itself as a monument to the bodies that have been subjugated and undermined by violence in the Mexican context on account of their class, gender and race.

Transfiguración is meant as a condemnation of the violence targeting “the other”, which hinders the construction of otherness and has spawned the stigmatization of difference in society that still undervalues and denigrates the indigenous, black, female, sexually dissident and diverse bodies—in essence, all marginalized bodies.
